The Chin Implant Surgical Procedure
The first step in the procedure you will take is for an x-ray to be taken of your existing chin bone. This will provide the surgeon with a picture of the existing bone structure so the correct size and shape implant can be used.
The options in types of implants that can be used in your procedure include Dacron, fatty tissue, polyethylene, real bone, silicon or Teflon. Dr. Taneja will discuss these options with you during your free consultation.
The insertion of the chin implant can be from the inside of the mouth or with an incision on the exterior. With the incision a pocket will be created under the existing muscle next to the bone. Depending on the type of implant used, it will either be attached to your existing bone structure with screws or stitches.
