The Breast Reconstruction Procedure
To fill in the area that was removed, the desired result can be accomplished with either an implant or with a fat, muscle and skin transfer. Thus the breast reconstruction process can take place.
The two main types of implants used during a procedure are saline and silicone. A custom made implant can be fitted so your natural appearance before your surgery can be restored. This is the easiest way to accomplish this and requires the least amount of recovery due to the limited incisions that will be required in the procedure.
The fat, muscle and skin transfers require the harvesting of material from the abdomen, back or buttocks areas. When ample material has been removed, it is transferred to the breast restoring the contour of the breast shape.
